International Conference between professionals from the Research and Study Centre for an Inclusive Society
On the 7th October 2019, the International Conference was held between professionals from the Research and Study Centre for an Inclusive Society (CERSIN) and the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD) in the Faculty of Education at Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). Both institutions are working in the field of educational and social inclusion.
The event was chaired by Dr. Armand Sánchez Bonastre (Vice-rector of Research and Transference, UAB), Dr. Joaquín Gairín Sallàn (Dean of the Faculty of Education, UAB), Dr. Josep Maria Sanahuja Gavaldà (Director of CERSIN, UAB) and Dr. Margaret Nygren (Executive Director & CEO of AAIDD, USA).
The objectives of the Conference were, on one hand, to exchange knowledges and experiences between research professionals who are international working on educational and social inclusion and, on the other hand, to serve as a bridge to create synergies for setting strong ties of collaboration between CERSIN and AAIDD in international inclusive research projects.
The treated topics at the Conference were the following ones:
- Service for inclusion in the UAB. Support for students with Specific Educational Needs
- Can reasonable accommodation safeguard the employment of people with disabilities?
- Intellectual disabilities and social inclusion. Transition to adulthood and Independent living
- Inclusive Research: sharing spaces and processes. Experiences from University of Cantabria
- Artistic projects for people with functional diversity in the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC)
We would like to thank all speakers for their participation in this Conference, Dra. Maria Pallisera Díaz and Dra. Mar Morón Velasco Department of Teaching of Musical, Visual and Corporal Expression of UAB and Dr. David Gutiérrez Colominas Department of Public Law and Historical-Judicial Sciences of UAB, both members of CERSIN.
CERSIN would also like to thank all attendants in the Conference for their active participation for creating a great moment to promote the exchange of knowledge aimed at fomenting inclusive processes from an educational, work-oriented, cultural and social perspective.
